IPA Annual General Meeting cum Annual Dinner on 23rd of May 2008

            The AGM for 2008 was held at PHQ on Friday 23rd May.  The minutes will later be posted on the Meetings section of the website.

The main points of the meeting :

  •

the president reviewed the membership situation, the number of visitors, and our activities over the past year.

  •

he reported on the appointment of four patrons and an honorary legal adviser.

  •

he reported on the progress of redecoration of the IPA office.

  •

he described the various methods of communication for members to find out what’s going on in the Association.

            The Treasurer, Aubrey SO, presented the accounts, namely the balance sheet and statement of income and expenditure, showing that the Association is in good financial health.

            The President then explained some proposed amendments to the constitution.  These were then voted on and passed unanimously.  The full constitution can be found elsewhere on this website.  The main changes were :

  •

to remove the abbreviation ‘SAR’ from the title of the Association.  Once again, we will be known as the Hong Kong Section.

  •

Formal creation of the post of ‘Assistant Treasurer’;

  •

Deletion of the word ‘Vice’ from the job titles of the respective Vice Secretaries;

  •

Serving and Retired members of the HK Auxiliary Police will be Ordinary Members (with full voting rights) rather than Associate members.

            The AGM concluded with an election for the Executive Council.  There were ten candidates for nine positions.  The winning candidates were Chris Bilham, TAM Man-hoi, SO Wai-ming, HO Kai-yan, CHAN Kim-ming, WONG Man-hung, CHUNG Wing-yee, CHEUNG Wing-wah and HO Kwok-ching.  The successful candidates will allocate the offices amongst themselves at the next EC meeting.

            Enough members to occupy five tables stayed for a dinner at the Shing Hin Restaurant.  Our patrons BannerSHOP and E-print donated prizes for a lucky draw.
